Who we are
Mieks & Match is a placement service based in Stellenbosch that matches families with au pairs, babysitters, tutors, house & pet sitters, chauffeurs and event staff. We are the responsible party for the personal information you give us.
What we collect
- Families: your name, contact details, area, the kind of help you need, your schedule, and basic household details such as the number and ages of children and any pets.
- Candidates: your name, contact details, area, age group, studies, experience, languages, availability, rate expectation and (if you choose) your CV.
We do not ask for ID numbers or ID documents through this website. If we take a candidate application further, we will ask for these separately and explain why.
Why we use it
- To contact you about your request or application.
- To find and propose suitable matches.
- With your permission, to share a candidate's profile with prospective families (and a family's general requirements with shortlisted candidates).
- To check references before recommending a candidate.
We don't sell your information or use it for unrelated marketing.
Who can see it
Only Mieks & Match and the service providers that host our website, forms and records (currently Netlify for the website and Supabase for submissions and private CV storage; our Supabase project is hosted in Ireland). Candidate profiles are shared with families only as part of a potential match.
How long we keep it
Our proposed retention period for family requests and unsuccessful applications is 12 months. The retention process is under review, and this notice will be updated once it has been confirmed. Information about active placements is kept for as long as the placement runs and for a reasonable period afterwards.
Your rights
You may ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, or withdraw your consent, at any time. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za).
